The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, has endorsed the 2026 Ramadhan Charity Run, describing it as a timely initiative that translates Islamic teachings on charity into practical community action.
Hajjat Namyalo made the remarks on Thursday after hosting leaders of Allied Muslim Youth Uganda, the Dusmans Daawa Initiative and Taniim, Hijja & Umrah at her Kyambogo office. The delegation briefed her on the charity run scheduled for February 15, 2026, at the Herman Padel Centre in Nsambya.
Organisers said the event aims to promote physical fitness and unity while raising funds to support vulnerable families during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Welcoming the initiative, Hajjat Namyalo praised the organisers for combining faith, health and compassion into one community-driven activity.
“Ramadhan is a season of sacrifice, discipline and caring for others. Supporting this charity run is not just about fitness; it is about fulfilling our obligation to uplift the less fortunate,” she said.
She cited verses from the Holy Qur’an that emphasise charity and social responsibility, noting that true faith must be reflected in actions that support the needy.
“We cannot claim to be faithful if we ignore the hungry, the orphaned and struggling families in our communities. Initiatives like this give believers an opportunity to live by the teachings of the Qur’an,” Namyalo added.
On behalf of the Office of the National Chairman, she pledged support for the initiative and called on Muslim youth, corporate organisations and well-wishers to participate by purchasing run kits and partnering with the organisers.
“Let us use our energy and resources to ensure that no family breaks their fast without a meal this Ramadhan. Charity is not optional; it is an obligation,” she said.
Speaking on behalf of the organisers, Mr. Uthman Matovu thanked Hajjat Namyalo for the endorsement, saying it would help expand the reach and impact of the charity run.
“This run is not just about covering kilometres. It is about bridging gaps in our communities and ensuring vulnerable families have food and dignity during Ramadhan,” Matovu said.
He said proceeds from the run will go towards food packages and other basic necessities for families in need, adding that registration is ongoing and run kits are already available.
The 2026 Ramadhan Charity Run, themed “Charity, Fitness, Fun,” is expected to attract participants from across Kampala and beyond.
