KAMPALA — Ugandan business magnate Sudhir Ruparelia has stepped in as the main sponsor of the 2026 Pan-African Pyramid (PAP) Global Awards and Convention, a move organisers say will elevate the event’s profile and reach across Africa and the diaspora.
The sponsorship, confirmed this week, will be facilitated through the Ruparelia Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Ruparelia Group. The awards ceremony is scheduled for August 29, 2026, at Speke Resort Munyonyo, a premier lakeside venue renowned for hosting high-profile continental and international gatherings.
“The backing from Dr Ruparelia comes at a crucial time as we expand the Pan-African Pyramid platform to reach more leaders, scholars and innovators across the continent,” said Andrew Irumba Katusabe, founding speaker and chairman of the PAP movement.
The Pan-African Pyramid movement, which celebrates African excellence, unity, and intellectual development, has operated for more than a decade promoting Pan-African ideals and thought leadership. The awards recognise individuals and organisations whose work advances leadership, entrepreneurship, cultural pride, and socio-economic transformation.
This year’s edition is expected to attract delegates from countries including the United States, Canada, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Burkina Faso, and Jamaica, organisers said. The programme will feature award presentations, panel discussions, cultural performances, and networking sessions for scholars, entrepreneurs, activists, and policymakers.
“The event is not only a celebration of achievements but a platform for dialogue and collaboration that will help shape Africa’s future,” said Irumba.
Dr Ruparelia, chairman of the Ruparelia Group, is one of Uganda’s most prominent investors, with a diversified portfolio spanning real estate, banking, education, hospitality, and agriculture. Born in Kasese District in western Uganda, he built a multi-billion-dollar business empire after returning from the United Kingdom in the 1980s.
Through the Ruparelia Foundation, he has supported numerous initiatives in education, healthcare, and community development. His involvement with the Pan-African Pyramid awards marks a continuation of his support for continental initiatives that promote African innovation and leadership.
“We are proud to partner with the Pan-African Pyramid to celebrate Africans who are shaping the continent’s development,” said Dr Ruparelia.
Hosting the awards at Speke Resort Munyonyo, a luxury venue along the shores of Lake Victoria, underscores Kampala’s growing reputation as a hub for international conferences and Pan-African gatherings. Organisers say the support from one of Uganda’s leading businessmen will transform the event into one of Africa’s flagship platforms for recognition, dialogue, and networking.
The 2026 awards are expected to draw unprecedented participation, cementing the PAP Global Awards as a key annual event promoting African excellence, unity, and cultural pride.
