Kampala — Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has commended businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia for his contribution to job creation and sustained support to community initiatives across Uganda.
In a message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Gen. Muhoozi hailed Dr. Ruparelia as a key figure in Uganda’s private sector, recognising his role in driving investment and supporting social causes.
The remarks come as part of activities marking Gen. Muhoozi’s 52nd birthday, which have included a charity run aimed at mobilising resources for vulnerable communities.
“Dr. Sudhir is a committed investor and an important contributor to Uganda’s development,” Gen. Muhoozi noted in the post.
Dr. Ruparelia, one of Uganda’s leading entrepreneurs, has built a vast business portfolio spanning real estate, hospitality, banking, and education, sectors that continue to play a critical role in employment creation and economic growth.
Observers note that his investments have not only contributed to urban development, particularly in Kampala, but have also supported thousands of jobs, especially among young people.
Gen. Muhoozi emphasised the importance of strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors, noting that such collaboration is essential in advancing Uganda’s socio-economic transformation agenda.
He also called on more private sector players to emulate similar efforts in supporting community initiatives, particularly those targeting health, education, and youth empowerment.
The ongoing charity activities have attracted participation from a cross-section of Ugandans, including government officials, business leaders, and youth groups, reflecting growing momentum around collective responsibility and philanthropy.
Organisers of the birthday charity run said proceeds from the initiative will be channelled into programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and expanding opportunities for vulnerable populations.
The event underscores the increasing role of public-private partnerships in addressing social challenges and promoting inclusive national development.
