KAMPALA — The Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed Hon. Fadil Twaha as the new Secretary General of the organisation, replacing Hon. Daudi Kabanda, who has served in the position for the past three years.
The announcement was made by Gen. Kainerugaba through a statement posted on his official X account, where he expressed confidence in the new Secretary General and pledged to work closely with him to advance the organisation’s objectives.
“The new General Secretary of PLU is Hon. Fadil Twaha. I will work closely with him to achieve our objectives. I thank Hon. Kabanda for his three years of excellent service. He set the standard high for the position,” Gen. Kainerugaba said.
The appointment marks a significant leadership transition within PLU, a civic organisation that has grown in prominence in recent years through nationwide mobilisation, youth engagement, and public advocacy initiatives.
Hon. Twaha is a founding member of PLU and has been part of the organisation’s top leadership structures since its inception. Earlier this year, he was assigned Patriotic Officer Number 012 under the organisation’s leadership numbering system introduced by Gen. Kainerugaba.
Outgoing Secretary General Daudi Kabanda, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kasambya County, played a central role in the organisation’s growth and visibility during his tenure. He oversaw several mobilisation campaigns and represented PLU in major political and public engagements.
Political observers say the transition is expected to strengthen the organisation’s administrative structures as it continues to expand its activities across the country.
The Patriotic League of Uganda has in recent years emerged as an influential civic platform with a growing presence among youth and community groups, promoting patriotism, social transformation, and citizen participation in national development initiatives.
