COPENHAGEN, DENMARK — Uganda has launched a tourism promotion campaign in Denmark as part of efforts to attract more visitors from the Nordic region and strengthen the country’s position as a preferred destination for nature, wildlife and adventure tourism.
The campaign, dubbed “Explore Uganda”, was unveiled by Uganda’s Ambassador to Denmark, Margaret M. Otesskov, and features outdoor advertisements displayed along key public transport routes in Copenhagen.
According to the Uganda Embassy in Copenhagen, the initiative is intended to increase awareness of Uganda’s tourism offerings among Danish travellers and other visitors in the Nordic market.
The campaign showcases some of Uganda’s leading attractions, including mountain gorillas, the Rwenzori Mountains, tree-climbing lions, cultural heritage sites and local culinary experiences.
In a statement, the Embassy said the campaign targets travellers interested in authentic and sustainable tourism experiences, particularly in nature, adventure, wildlife and cultural tourism.
“The campaign seeks to boost destination awareness among travellers interested in nature, adventure, wildlife and cultural tourism,” the Embassy said.
The initiative comes amid a continued recovery in Uganda’s tourism sector, which has registered growth in international arrivals and renewed interest from key source markets.
Tourism remains one of Uganda’s leading foreign exchange earners and a significant contributor to employment and economic activity. Government and industry stakeholders have in recent years intensified international marketing efforts under the “Explore Uganda, The Pearl of Africa” brand to attract visitors from Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.
Officials say the Copenhagen campaign is expected to help Uganda tap into the growing Nordic travel market, where demand for eco-tourism, wildlife encounters and adventure travel continues to rise.
The Embassy expressed optimism that the campaign will enhance Uganda’s visibility across Denmark and the wider Nordic region, encouraging more travellers to visit the country and experience its diverse tourism attractions.
It added that it will continue working with tourism stakeholders, travel operators and destination marketers to promote Uganda as one of Africa’s leading tourism destinations.
