KAMPALA — Businessman and philanthropist Sudhir Ruparelia joined pupils, teachers and parents at Kampala Parents’ School (KPS) on Saturday for a colourful Cultural Day celebration aimed at promoting appreciation of Uganda’s diverse heritage.
The event, held as the school closed for the second term, brought together members of the school community to celebrate Uganda’s cultural diversity through performances and presentations by pupils.
The children showcased different cultural traditions, providing an opportunity for them to learn about and appreciate the country’s heritage.
The celebrations also highlighted the role schools can play in helping children understand their cultural identity while developing respect for people from different backgrounds.
Dr Ruparelia, who attended the event, interacted with pupils and members of the school community as they celebrated the occasion.
KPS said cultural activities are important in helping children develop an appreciation of their heritage from an early age.
The school commended the pupils, parents and staff for contributing to the success of the event, saying Cultural Day provides learners with an opportunity to celebrate the diversity that characterises Uganda.
Promoting cultural awareness
The event formed part of the school’s wider efforts to provide pupils with learning experiences beyond the classroom.
Through cultural presentations and performances, pupils were able to explore traditions from different parts of the country while celebrating Uganda’s multicultural identity.
The school said it remains committed to creating an environment where children can learn, develop their talents and appreciate the different cultures that make up Ugandan society.
The Cultural Day concluded the school’s second-term activities, with pupils, parents and teachers joining together to celebrate the country’s cultural heritage.
