Kampala’s higher education landscape is set for another addition as Victoria University prepares to establish a new campus in Naguru, signalling continued investment in education infrastructure in the city.
Construction of the planned campus is expected to begin this year, according to Vice Chancellor Dr Lawrence Muganga, who recently unveiled architectural impressions of the proposed facility.

The campus will be located near Phaneroo in Naguru, an area that has experienced rapid residential, commercial and institutional development.
The designs show a modern facility intended to provide additional space for teaching, student interaction, innovation and other university activities.
Dr Muganga said the architectural impressions may appear computer-generated because of their futuristic design, but they represent the university’s actual plans for the project. He expressed optimism that construction would soon turn the designs into a physical facility.

The Naguru project will expand Victoria University’s presence in Kampala as the institution continues to develop its academic and physical infrastructure.
The university currently operates from Victoria Towers on Jinja Road, where it offers programmes built around practical learning, technology and innovation.
The new campus is expected to provide additional academic space while allowing the institution to reach students in another part of the city.

Naguru’s growing residential and commercial population could also provide the university with an expanded catchment area and a setting for a modern learning environment.
Victoria University has placed emphasis on practical education, technology and skills relevant to changing workplace demands.
The institution attracts students from Uganda and other countries, creating a diverse academic community.
The proposed Naguru facility is expected to support these priorities through spaces designed for contemporary teaching, student engagement and other university activities
The project comes as Victoria University seeks to strengthen its institutional profile and respond to the needs of a growing academic community.

The Naguru campus will complement the university’s existing operations at Victoria Towers and provide another location for teaching and related activities.
For the institution, the development represents an investment in additional academic infrastructure and its longer-term expansion within Kampala.
With construction expected to begin this year, the next stage will be translating the architectural plans into a completed and operational campus.
Once finished, the facility could provide additional learning spaces and support the university’s efforts to expand its academic community.
