UVTAB to Release Nov–Dec 2025 Assessment Results

By Infora Media

KAMPALA — The Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB) will on Wednesday release the results of the November–December 2025 national assessment series in a ceremony to be officiated by the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni.

The event is scheduled to take place at the UVTAB Secretariat in Kyambogo at 10:00 a.m., marking a key milestone for Uganda’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector following months of assessment, marking and evaluation.

The results follow one of the largest assessment exercises conducted by the Board, with 137,546 candidates registered across 743 centres nationwide. Of these, 80,654 were male and 56,892 female, reflecting growing interest in vocational and technical training. A total of 338 candidates with special needs were also facilitated during the assessments with support from more than 150 specialised personnel, including interpreters and guides.

The assessment series, conducted between November 21 and December 19, 2025, covered a wide range of programmes in agriculture, technical trades and service-oriented fields. Candidates were assessed in crop production, animal husbandry and agro-forestry, alongside technical disciplines such as building and construction, electrical installation, mechanical engineering and hospitality. Diplomas and certificates under national agricultural programmes were also evaluated.

According to UVTAB officials, the assessments are designed to promote competency-based training and equip learners with practical, job-ready skills aligned with labour market needs.

UVTAB Executive Secretary Onesmus Oyesigye said the successful completion of the exercise demonstrates the Board’s commitment to maintaining quality standards in vocational training and certification.

He noted that the assessments were conducted smoothly across the country, with no major incidents reported, and credited improved coordination among assessment centres and security agencies for safeguarding the integrity of the process.

The Board is also pursuing reforms aimed at strengthening vocational training. Among the proposals under consideration is a shift in curriculum structure from the current 60 per cent practical and 40 per cent theory to a 70 per cent practical and 30 per cent theory model, intended to enhance hands-on skills and improve graduates’ employability.

Earlier inspections during the assessment period indicated improved compliance with regulations, timely delivery of assessment materials and enhanced coordination at centres nationwide.

Education stakeholders say the release of the results will enable successful candidates to transition into the workforce or advance to higher levels of training, reinforcing UVTAB’s role in building a skilled labour force to support Uganda’s economic growth.
