Mubende, Uganda: Police in Mubende District are investigating a suspected double homicide after a couple was found dead inside their home in Nabingola Town Council on Monday evening.
The deceased have been identified as Ronald Tumusiime, 37, a teacher, and his wife Justine Kamukama, 40, a businesswoman.
According to police, the incident came to light at around 5:00pm after a neighbour, Elvis Senabulya, heard the couple’s two-year-old child crying from inside the locked house, raising concern.
Wamala Regional Police spokesperson Lameck Kigozi said the neighbour decided to check on the situation and made a disturbing discovery.
“After peeping through a bedroom window, Senabulya saw the bodies of the couple lying on the floor in a pool of blood,” Kigozi said.
The neighbour immediately alerted local leaders, who informed Nabingola Police. Officers from the area, together with the Mubende homicide team, later forced entry into the house, which had been locked from the inside.
Preliminary police findings indicate that the couple may have been involved in a violent domestic altercation before their deaths. Investigators noted signs of a struggle inside the house, with broken household items scattered around the room.
“Both bodies had deep cut wounds, and there were clear indications of a physical confrontation,” Kigozi added.
Police have condemned domestic violence and urged couples facing disputes to seek timely intervention from authorities and community structures.
“We condemn all forms of domestic violence and encourage people in abusive relationships to seek help before situations escalate,” Kigozi said.
The bodies were taken to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem examination as investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
