Kampala — The Ruparelia Group is in the final stages of completing its flagship Paradise Island Resort on Lake Victoria, with the first phase of the luxury development scheduled to open in June.
Construction activity has intensified in recent weeks as developers push to meet deadlines, with one of the resort’s standout features, a 500-metre man-made beach, nearing completion. Sources familiar with the project say excavation works have been finalised, and the remaining phase involves transporting and spreading sand along the shoreline to create a distinctive lakeside leisure space.
The beach is expected to serve as a central attraction, offering guests a curated waterfront experience that blends relaxation, scenic views and a tropical aesthetic within the island setting.
The multi-billion-shilling resort, developed by businessman Sudhir Ruparelia, sits on a 19-acre private island approximately 20 minutes by speedboat from Speke Resort Munyonyo.
Designed as a high-end hospitality facility, the resort will feature a range of accommodation options, including standard cottages, cliff-hanger cottages, deluxe two-bedroom units and executive villas, all positioned to maximise views of the lake.
The development is among the most ambitious private tourism investments on Lake Victoria, underscoring growing interest in positioning Uganda as a premium leisure destination in the region.

As part of the final construction phase, developers have deployed a custom-built barge to facilitate transport of materials and operational supplies to the island, a critical component in ensuring timely completion of the project.
Project insiders indicate that the June launch will mark the beginning of phased operations, allowing guests access to selected facilities as additional components are finalised.
For the Ruparelia Group, the Paradise Island Resort represents a strategic push into luxury tourism, aimed at redefining Uganda’s high-end hospitality offering while leveraging the natural appeal of Lake Victoria.
Once operational, the resort is expected to boost the country’s tourism sector by attracting both domestic and international travellers seeking exclusive island experiences.
With finishing works now underway and key features taking shape, the Paradise Island Resort is on course for its anticipated debut next month.
