The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has passed out 175 officers who successfully completed a non-commissioned leadership and ideology course at Moroto Barracks.
The ceremony was presided over by Maj. Gen. George Wilberforce Sserunkuma, Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, who commended the officers for successfully completing the training and urged them to uphold discipline and professionalism in their service.
Maj. Gen. Sserunkuma described non-commissioned officers as a critical link between commanders and troops, noting that their leadership plays a key role in maintaining operational effectiveness within the force. He encouraged the graduates to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the course to strengthen teamwork and enhance performance in their respective units.
The training focused on leadership development, ideological orientation, discipline, and operational preparedness. Participants were drawn from various units, with the programme aimed at strengthening command structures and promoting professionalism within the UPDF.
Military officials said the course forms part of ongoing efforts to build capacity within the force and equip officers with the skills needed to support security and stability, particularly in areas under the 3rd Infantry Division’s jurisdiction.
The newly passed-out officers are expected to return to their respective deployments to reinforce leadership at unit level and contribute to ongoing security operations.
