Kampala. The Pan-African Pyramid has announced that the late businessman Rajiv Ruparelia will be posthumously honoured with a Humanitarian Award during the 9th Pan-African Pyramid Global Awards and 12th anniversary dinner scheduled for August 29 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

According to organisers, the award recognises his contribution to humanitarian and social development initiatives across Uganda and the wider African region.

In a statement issued by the Office of the PAP Speaker, Mr Andrew Irumba, the awards committee said the decision was reached unanimously in recognition of Rajiv Ruparelia’s work in education, healthcare support, youth empowerment and community development programmes.

“Rajiv impacted countless lives and inspired a generation of young African entrepreneurs and philanthropists,” Mr Irumba said.

Organisers said the posthumous award seeks to acknowledge Rajiv’s role in supporting initiatives in sports development, charity work and youth-focused empowerment programmes.

Rajiv, who served as a director within the Ruparelia Group, was widely involved in real estate, hospitality and youth-oriented initiatives during his lifetime.

He is remembered for his engagement in community-driven projects and philanthropic activities targeting vulnerable groups.

The organisers confirmed that Sudhir Ruparelia, together with his wife Jyotsna Ruparelia and other family members, will attend the ceremony to receive the award on behalf of the late businessman.

The event is expected to bring together diplomats, business leaders, cultural figures and Pan-African advocates from across the continent.

In recent months, several activities have been organised in honour of Rajiv Ruparelia, including memorial drives and community outreach programmes.

These have included charity initiatives, sports-related events and medical support activities aimed at vulnerable groups.

Organisers say this year’s awards ceremony will also highlight broader humanitarian themes inspired by Rajiv’s legacy, with a focus on youth empowerment and social transformation across Africa.

The Pan-African Pyramid describes itself as a non-partisan intellectual platform promoting Pan-Africanism, patriotism and youth engagement.

Founded by Mr Andrew Irumba, the organisation hosts annual awards in Kampala to recognise individuals contributing to African development and unity.

This year’s edition is expected to attract high-profile guests, including Pan-African advocates, entrepreneurs and invited international figures.

Organisers say the ceremony will not only honour Rajiv Ruparelia but also reinforce conversations around African-led philanthropy, unity and community transformation.
