Entebbe, Uganda — In a gesture blending community service with national recognition, members of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) USA Chapter on Monday donated essential hampers to new mothers at Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital as part of activities marking the 52nd birthday of Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The delegation, led by PLU USA Chapter Chairperson Ronnie Kananura and Diaspora Affairs Coordinator Steven Rutasharara, delivered the support packages to mothers at the facility in an outreach organisers described as a commitment to giving back to communities across Uganda.

The team was warmly received by the hospital’s senior management led by Hospital Director John Bosco Nsubuga.

Following the donation exercise, both parties held high-level discussions on potential collaboration between PLU Diaspora Chapters and the hospital’s outreach programmes in the greater Wakiso District and Luwero District regions.

Hospital officials present included Senior Hospital Administrator Richard Tumwesigye, Principal Nursing Officer Roselyn Mutonyi Walimbwa, Assistant Principal Nursing Officer Barbara Magoba, and Hospital Administrator Christopher Ogwal Oling.

In what emerged as the day’s most symbolic moment, the hospital administration officially named the road stretching from the medical stores to the oxygen plant “MK Street,” in honour of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s contributions to Uganda.

The recognition was accompanied by a tree-planting exercise within the hospital grounds, with members of the delegation planting commemorative trees as a lasting symbol of service, growth, and remembrance.

Organisers said the donation and environmental initiative form part of a wider series of activities spearheaded by PLU Diaspora Chapters to celebrate Gen. Muhoozi’s birthday through acts of social impact rather than ceremony alone.

Speaking after the event, members of the delegation described the outreach as a reflection of PLU’s broader commitment to supporting maternal health, strengthening community institutions, and fostering partnerships that create lasting change.

For the mothers who received the hampers, the donation offered practical support during one of life’s most important moments.

For the hospital, it marked the beginning of what could become a broader partnership with Uganda’s diaspora-led initiatives.

And for the PLU USA Chapter, the day stood as a statement that celebration can be most meaningful when it uplifts lives.
