Sironko District Woman Member of Parliament (DWMP) Asha Mafabi Nabulo has been selected as the new Chairperson of the Sironko District Roads Committee, taking over leadership of a sector critical to improving transport and service delivery in the district.
The appointment was confirmed today, with the committee responsible for overseeing the maintenance and development of road infrastructure across Sironko District.
Sironko District, located in the Bugisu sub-region, is characterized by a rugged terrain that continues to pose significant challenges to road construction and maintenance. Many roads in the district remain in poor condition, limiting mobility and access to markets, health facilities, and essential social services.
In her acceptance remarks, Asha Mafabi Nabulo emphasized her commitment to working closely with district leadership and stakeholders to prioritize road improvement and ensure better motorability across all sub-counties. She noted that reliable road infrastructure is a key driver of socio-economic transformation, particularly in rural communities.
She further highlighted that improved roads will enhance access to goods and services, strengthen local trade, and support agricultural productivity by connecting farmers to markets more efficiently.
Local leaders welcomed her appointment, expressing optimism that her leadership will help accelerate long-awaited improvements in the district’s road network. They noted that poor road conditions have long hindered development efforts, especially in hard-to-reach areas.
