KAMPALA — The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) has intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of the Local Council One (LC1) and Women Council elections after deploying 2,200 mobilisers to support engagement efforts across the country.
The team, comprising ONC coordinators, pressure groups and informal sector representatives, was flagged off under the leadership of ONC Manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, with a mandate to strengthen grassroots structures and mobilise support for National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking during the deployment exercise, Namyalo urged the mobilisers to remain focused, disciplined and committed to their task, calling on them to work with the same determination demonstrated during previous mobilisation activities for NRM National Chairman and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
She tasked the teams with reaching out to communities, promoting engagement at the grassroots and ensuring that the party’s structures remain active as the country prepares for the village-level elections.
Namyalo said the success of the NRM at the grassroots depends on strong and organised structures, urging the mobilisers to prioritise teamwork, unity and commitment as they execute their assignment.
She also expressed appreciation to President Museveni for supporting the Bazzukulu and facilitating the mobilisation activities, saying the support would enhance efforts to reach communities across the country.
“The President has continued to support the Bazzukulu and we appreciate his commitment towards strengthening grassroots mobilisation,” Namyalo said.
The 2,200 mobilisers thanked Hajjat Namyalo for the facilitation and pledged to actively participate in the mobilisation exercise aimed at securing victory for NRM candidates in the LC1 and Women Council elections.
The ONC said the deployment is part of its broader mandate of strengthening grassroots engagement, monitoring community concerns and promoting participation in local leadership processes.
With LC1 and Women Council elections approaching, the ONC leadership has called on its coordinators and mobilisers to maintain discipline, unity and a strong connection with communities to ensure effective mobilisation at the village level.
