TORORO – Sironko District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Mafabi Asha Nabulo, has commended West Budama North East MP, Hon. Richard Owere Machika, for what she described as exemplary servant leadership, urging political leaders across the country to focus on initiatives that directly improve the welfare of citizens.
Hon. Nabulo made the remarks on Saturday during a thanksgiving ceremony organised by Hon. Owere Machika in Tororo District to thank God and the people of West Budama North East Constituency for electing him as their Member of Parliament.
The event attracted political leaders, religious leaders, cultural representatives and residents from across the district, who gathered to celebrate Hon. Owere’s election victory and reflect on the importance of accountable and people-centred leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Nabulo congratulated Hon. Owere on his election and praised the electorate for entrusting the constituency’s leadership to a leader she described as committed to transforming the lives of his constituents through practical interventions.
She said leadership should be measured not by promises but by tangible results that improve livelihoods and strengthen access to essential public services.
“Leadership is about serving the people and responding to their needs. When leaders invest in projects that improve healthcare, education and livelihoods, they earn the trust and confidence of the communities they represent,” Hon. Nabulo said.
She particularly applauded Hon. Owere’s contribution to strengthening healthcare services in the constituency, highlighting his support for emergency medical services through the donation of ambulances aimed at improving access to timely healthcare.
According to Hon. Nabulo, such investments demonstrate the kind of leadership that responds to the everyday challenges faced by ordinary Ugandans, especially those living in rural communities where access to emergency medical transport remains limited.
She urged other leaders to emulate initiatives that deliver lasting benefits to communities, noting that development is best achieved through practical action and responsive representation.
The thanksgiving ceremony was organised to celebrate Hon. Owere Machika’s election as Member of Parliament for West Budama North East Constituency and to express gratitude to residents for the confidence they placed in his leadership.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Owere thanked the people of West Budama North East for their continued support and pledged to remain committed to fulfilling his campaign commitments through improved service delivery and inclusive development.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with government institutions, local leaders and development partners to address key challenges affecting the constituency, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, infrastructure and household incomes.
The event concluded with prayers, messages of appreciation and calls for unity among residents as leaders emphasised the need for continued collaboration in advancing socio-economic development across the constituency.
