President Yoweri Museveni has bid farewell to the outgoing Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Uganda, H.E. Frederieke Quispel, as she concluded her tour of duty in the country.
The meeting took place at the President’s country home in Kisozi, where the two reflected on the longstanding relations between Uganda and the Netherlands.
President Museveni commended Ambassador Quispel for her contribution to strengthening bilateral ties, particularly her efforts in advancing economic cooperation between the two countries.
He welcomed the growing shift in Uganda-Netherlands relations from traditional development assistance to trade and investment, saying the approach aligns with Uganda’s strategy of achieving sustainable economic transformation through private sector-led growth.
The President also encouraged the outgoing envoy to continue mobilising investors from the Netherlands and the wider European Union to explore investment opportunities in Uganda, citing the country’s favourable business environment and untapped potential in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and value addition.
“I wish her good luck and God’s blessings in her future endeavours,” President Museveni said after the meeting.
Uganda and the Netherlands have maintained strong diplomatic and economic relations over the years, with Dutch investments playing a significant role in agriculture, horticulture, water management and other key sectors of the Ugandan economy. The two countries have increasingly focused on expanding trade, investment and commercial partnerships as a foundation for deeper bilateral cooperation.
