KAMPALA — Speke Resort Munyonyo will host a one-day pony camp for children on July 11, offering participants an opportunity to learn horse riding and basic equestrian skills during the school holiday.
The day-long programme, scheduled to run from 9am to 6pm, is designed to introduce children to horse care and riding through practical sessions led by experienced instructors.
According to the organisers, participants will receive introductory horse-riding lessons and training in pony grooming, feeding, stable management and safe horse-handling techniques. The programme will also include demonstrations on saddling and bridling, lead-rein pony rides for beginners and a basic jumping exhibition.
The camp will feature a 45-minute swimming session, providing children with additional recreational activities alongside the equestrian programme.
Organisers say the initiative aims to help children develop confidence, responsibility, teamwork and an appreciation for animals through supervised outdoor learning.
The event will be held at Speke Resort Munyonyo, with participation open at a fee of Shs100,000 per child.
Parents and guardians have been encouraged to register early ahead of the event.
The resort has in recent years expanded its family-oriented recreational activities, including equestrian programmes, as part of efforts to provide educational and leisure experiences for children during school holidays.
The pony camp comes at a time when many families are seeking structured holiday activities that combine recreation with skills development in safe outdoor environments.
