KAMPALA — Victoria University has announced the rollout of 100 fully funded Master’s scholarships under the Rajiv Memorial Scholarships Programme, aimed at supporting outstanding graduates while preserving the legacy of the late Rajiv Ruparelia.

The scholarship initiative, funded by the Ruparelia Family through the Ruparelia Family Foundation, targets exceptional graduates from Victoria University’s Class of 2025 and seeks to provide them with opportunities for advanced education, research and leadership development.

The university said the programme represents more than financial support for postgraduate studies, describing it as a long-term investment in nurturing skilled professionals who can contribute to Uganda’s knowledge economy and national development.

In a statement from the Office of the Vice Chancellor, Victoria University said the scholarships were established to honour Rajiv Ruparelia’s values of excellence, leadership and service by empowering young graduates with the tools required to create meaningful impact in society.

The initiative will prioritize candidates with outstanding academic performance, leadership abilities and a commitment to research and innovation. Successful applicants will be enrolled in Master’s programmes at Victoria University and will participate in academic and mentorship activities designed to strengthen their professional growth.

To qualify, applicants must be graduates of Victoria University’s 2025 Bachelor’s degree programmes with a minimum CGPA of 4.3, equivalent to a Second Class Upper Division or higher. Candidates must also demonstrate strong leadership qualities, ethical conduct and a passion for academic excellence.

The university said preference will be given to graduates who have demonstrated exceptional performance in final-year research projects, participated in academic conferences or contributed to innovation initiatives.

Eligible applicants are required to either have an admission letter or meet admission requirements for a Victoria University Master’s programme. They will also be expected to contribute to the university community through roles such as Research Assistants or Tutorial Assistants under the institution’s Work Integrated Learning programme.

Beneficiaries will be required to maintain strong academic performance throughout their studies, participate in seminars, workshops, mentorship programmes and innovation activities, while submitting regular progress reports during their academic journey.

Victoria University noted that scholarship recipients will be expected to uphold high standards of discipline and academic integrity. The institution warned that awards may be withdrawn in cases involving academic misconduct, plagiarism, poor performance, absenteeism or violation of university regulations.

The scholarships will be awarded for the July/August 2026 intake, with successful students expected to complete their Master’s programmes within two years and produce research dissertations that contribute to academic and professional development.

The university emphasized that the selection process will be conducted transparently while promoting inclusion, gender balance and equitable participation of students across different faculties, including consideration for learners with disabilities.

Applicants are required to submit an official application form, Victoria University admission letter, academic transcripts, curriculum vitae, personal statement and recommendation letter from their Dean or Head of Department.

The deadline for applications is July 22, 2026.

Through the Rajiv Memorial Scholarships Programme, Victoria University seeks to continue Rajiv Ruparelia’s legacy by expanding access to quality postgraduate education and preparing a new generation of leaders, researchers and innovators who will contribute to Uganda’s future.
