KAMPALA — One hundred Ugandan students facing financial constraints in pursuing university education are set to benefit from bursaries offered by St Lawrence University through the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
The opportunity was announced by ONC Manager and Senior Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, who said the bursaries are intended to help students who might otherwise struggle to meet the cost of higher education.
According to Hajjat Namyalo, the offer follows an arrangement between St Lawrence University and the ONC aimed at creating additional opportunities for students seeking to pursue university studies.
The initiative comes at a time when the cost of higher education remains a challenge for some families, forcing students to defer or abandon their studies because of financial difficulties.
The bursary programme is expected to provide selected beneficiaries with an opportunity to continue their education while easing part of the financial burden associated with university studies.
Hajjat Namyalo said partnerships that expand access to education are important in supporting young people to acquire skills and qualifications that can improve their future economic prospects.
The ONC has not yet released detailed information on the application process, including the eligibility criteria, courses covered, deadlines and other requirements for prospective applicants.
Students interested in the opportunity have therefore been advised to wait for official communication from the ONC regarding how and when applications will be submitted.
The 100 bursaries add to efforts by the ONC to identify and promote opportunities intended to support Ugandans, particularly young people, in areas such as education, skills development and economic empowerment.
