KAMPALA — Prominent businessman Sudhir Ruparelia joined business leaders, government officials and other invited guests at the official inauguration of the Kampala Marriott Hotel in Nsambya on Thursday.
The high-profile ceremony was presided over by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who officially opened the five-star hotel as Uganda continues to attract investment into the hospitality and tourism sectors.
Dr. Ruparelia was among the notable business figures who attended the event, bringing together members of Uganda’s private sector to witness the opening of the new establishment.
The inauguration highlighted the growing role of private investment in expanding Uganda’s hospitality infrastructure and strengthening Kampala’s capacity to host international visitors, conferences and major business events.
The Kampala Marriott Hotel is expected to add to the city’s premium accommodation and conference facilities, providing additional space for international conferences, corporate meetings, diplomatic engagements and other high-profile events.
The investment is also expected to contribute to job creation and support businesses operating across the wider tourism and hospitality value chain, including transport, food supply, events and other service providers.
President Museveni’s presence at the inauguration underscored the government’s continued emphasis on private-sector investment as a driver of economic growth, employment and tourism development.
For Kampala, the opening of the hotel adds to the city’s expanding hospitality infrastructure at a time when Uganda is seeking to position itself as a competitive destination for business tourism, conferences and international events.
Dr. Ruparelia’s attendance also reflected the interest of Uganda’s business community in major investments that expand the country’s commercial and service-sector capacity.
The inauguration brought together a cross-section of the private sector, government and other stakeholders, highlighting the importance of collaboration between investors and public institutions in supporting Uganda’s economic transformation.
The Kampala Marriott Hotel is expected to play a role in strengthening Kampala’s profile as a regional business and tourism hub while contributing to the growth of the hospitality industry.
