Kampala — Sudhir Ruparelia has said his continued investments across Uganda are largely driven by the need to create employment opportunities rather than personal wealth accumulation.
Speaking during an interview with RadioWalla, the businessman noted that his long-standing business philosophy has always centred on addressing unemployment through strategic investments.
“My main motive is to create jobs. Society out there needs jobs,” Sudhir said when asked why he continues to expand his business empire despite already being financially established.
The billionaire investor explained that his passion for business is rooted in creating impact within society, particularly through projects that generate employment and stimulate economic activity.
Sudhir also reflected on his long-term investment approach, revealing how some of his early decisions were initially questioned, including his acquisition of land in Munyonyo years ago.
He recounted that when he first bought land in the area, his then young son expressed concern that he was “bankrupting the family,” at a time when few people considered Munyonyo a prime investment destination.
Over the years, the area has transformed into one of Kampala’s most high-value locations, hosting major tourism and hospitality facilities.
Today, Sudhir owns more than 100 acres in Munyonyo, where some of his flagship developments, including Speke Resort Munyonyo and the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort, are located.
The developments have played a significant role in positioning Munyonyo as a major centre for tourism, conferences, and hospitality in Uganda.
Sudhir said patience, vision, and strategic land acquisition have remained central to his investment philosophy throughout his business journey.
