KAMPALA — Office of the National Chairman (ONC) Manager Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo has called on ONC coordinators across the country to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Local Council One (LC1) elections, saying the office will continue executing its mandate despite financial constraints.

Speaking during the flag-off of ONC coordinators in Kyambogo on Monday, Namyalo said the office remains focused on mobilising support for the ruling party and monitoring the implementation of government programmes, even after it was left out of the Shs50 billion allocated to the NRM Secretariat to facilitate party activities.

She said she raised the matter with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who explained that the allocated funds had already been committed. According to Namyalo, the President later approved additional funding to enable the office to continue its operations.

“The President listened to our concerns and extended support within the available resources. We appreciate his continued commitment to ensuring that the work of mobilisation continues,” she said.

Namyalo urged coordinators to concentrate on strengthening the party’s structures at the grassroots by promoting the NRM’s ideology, monitoring public programmes and engaging communities ahead of the village-level elections.

She said the office’s responsibilities extend beyond political mobilisation to monitoring the implementation of government initiatives and providing regular reports to the National Chairman to support informed decision-making.

The ONC manager also emphasised the need for accountability in the implementation of government programmes, arguing that effective monitoring is necessary to ensure public resources deliver tangible benefits to citizens.

She cautioned coordinators against internal divisions, saying discipline, teamwork and ideological clarity would be critical to the party’s performance in the forthcoming elections.

Reflecting on her tenure, Namyalo said political challenges had not distracted her from the office’s mandate, adding that her priority remains serving the President and strengthening the NRM’s presence across the country.

She concluded by urging coordinators to remain focused on grassroots engagement and work towards securing victory for NRM candidates in the upcoming LC1 elections, describing the village structures as the foundation of the party’s organisation nationwide.
