GoldStar Insurance Company Limited has marked its 30th anniversary celebrations with a tree planting initiative at Kira Primary School in Kira Town, Wakiso District, as part of efforts to promote environmental conservation and community responsibility.

The insurance company partnered with My Tree Initiative Uganda and five Rotary Clubs — Namugongo, Bukerere, Bweyogerere Central, Kyambogo and Kira — to plant 150 fruit and indigenous shade trees under the project “Planting and Protecting Trees in Schools Across Kira Municipality.”

The activity, held on July 17, 2026, was part of GoldStar Insurance’s corporate social responsibility campaign dubbed “30 Years. One Promise,” which celebrates three decades of providing insurance protection to Ugandans.

The initiative saw GoldStar staff join pupils and environmental partners in planting high-yield fruit trees, including avocado, mango, guava and jackfruit, alongside indigenous shade species such as Mugavu, Musambya, Ensaali and Entasesa.

More than 391 pupils were trained in environmental stewardship, including tree care, watering and maintenance practices. The school’s Environmental Club was also assigned responsibility for monitoring and caring for the planted trees.

According to GoldStar, the fruit trees are expected to support school feeding programmes within 24 to 36 months, while the indigenous shade trees will contribute to reducing soil erosion, controlling flooding around classrooms and improving the school environment.

Speaking during the activity, GoldStar Insurance Chief Operations Officer, Mr Enock Mudadi, said the tree planting initiative reflected the company’s long-standing commitment to investing in communities and protecting the future of Ugandans.

“For thirty years, GoldStar has stood with Ugandans through storms, fires, floods and uncertainty. Insurance is, at its heart, a promise about the future — and there is no more honest way to invest in the future than to plant a tree with a child and commit to seeing it grow,” Mudadi said.

He added that the company’s anniversary was not only about celebrating its achievements but also about creating a lasting impact for future generations.

“We did not come to Kira Primary School only to plant trees; we came to plant a culture of stewardship. Our commitment remains unchanged: we will keep protecting Ugandans, their families and their businesses for the next thirty years and beyond,” he said.

The project will continue with a second phase involving tree maintenance, survival-rate tracking, GPS mapping of planted sites and regular monitoring visits by My Tree Initiative Uganda in partnership with the school and surrounding community.

GoldStar also recognised the pupils’ participation by providing branded school bags, T-shirts and learning materials to encourage them to become custodians of the environment.

Founded in 1996, GoldStar Insurance Company Limited, a member of the Ruparelia Group, has grown into one of Uganda’s leading general insurance providers, offering protection services to individuals, families and businesses across the country.

The company says its 30th anniversary is a reflection of its promise to continue providing reliable insurance solutions while supporting initiatives that contribute to sustainable development.
