As the Easter season draws near, Speke Resort Munyonyo has unveiled a range of staycation packages aimed at attracting both domestic and regional holidaymakers seeking a luxury getaway within Kampala.

The lakeside facility, situated along the shores of Lake Victoria, is offering a full-board Easter experience running from April 2 to April 6, strategically aligning with one of Uganda’s peak domestic travel periods.

According to details released by the resort, the packages combine accommodation, meals and access to leisure facilities, positioning the offer as a comprehensive holiday solution for families, couples and corporate clients.

Room rates have been structured across multiple tiers to cater to a broad clientele. Entry-level options include Deluxe and Double Deluxe rooms, while mid-range guests can choose from Studio and Superior categories. Higher-end offerings extend to Junior Suites, Executive Rooms, and premium options such as Garden Villas and Executive Suites.

At the top end, the resort is marketing its Presidential Cottage and Presidential Suite to high-net-worth individuals and executives seeking exclusivity during the holiday period.

Management indicated that the packages are offered on a full-board basis, covering breakfast, lunch, dinner and the Easter Sunday brunch, one of the resort’s flagships events that traditionally attracts a high-profile clientele. Beverages, however, are excluded from the package.

Guests will also have access to a range of recreational amenities, including a swimming pool, gymnasium, and wellness facilities such as steam and sauna. The resort’s expansive gardens, lakeside setting and additional attractions, including an equestrian centre, further enhance its appeal as a leisure destination.

Industry observers note that Easter remains a critical window for Uganda’s hospitality sector, with hotels competing to capture increased domestic travel demand driven by the long holiday weekend.

Analysts say offerings such as Munyonyo’s staycation packages reflect a growing shift toward domestic tourism, as hospitality players seek to cushion themselves against fluctuations in international arrivals.

For many urban residents, such packages provide an opportunity to experience a resort-style holiday without the logistical demands of long-distance travel, reinforcing Kampala’s position as an emerging hub for high-end staycations.
