Thousands Turn Up for Free Eye Camp in Bukedea Honouring Rajiv Ruparelia

By Infora Media

Thousands of residents turned up at the grounds of Bukedea Teaching Hospital in Bukedea District to benefit from a free eye medical camp organised by the Ruparelia Group in memory of the late Rajiv Ruparelia.

The outreach attracted people from Bukedea and neighbouring districts, with many arriving early to access free eye screening, treatment, and professional medical advice. Medical teams at the camp conducted examinations, provided medication, and referred patients requiring specialised care to higher health facilities.

Organisers said the initiative aims at improving access to affordable eye care services, particularly for vulnerable communities that often struggle to meet the cost of treatment. They added that the camp also honours the legacy of Rajiv Ruparelia, remembered for his philanthropic contributions and commitment to uplifting communities.

Residents who attended the camp welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. Some beneficiaries noted that eye-related complications had affected their daily activities but they had been unable to seek medical attention due to financial constraints.

Local leaders commended the organisers for supporting healthcare outreach programmes, saying such initiatives complement government efforts to extend essential services closer to the people. They emphasised the need for continued partnerships to address healthcare gaps in rural areas.

Medical personnel reported a steady turnout throughout the day, with hundreds receiving consultations and treatment. The camp also featured awareness messages encouraging regular eye check-ups and early detection of vision problems.

The Ruparelia Group reiterated its commitment to community support initiatives, noting that the outreach reflects Rajiv Ruparelia’s legacy of generosity and dedication to improving the wellbeing of Ugandans.
