Guangzhou, China / Kampala, Uganda — Uganda has strengthened its trade, investment, and export visibility following a high-level participation at the China Import and Export Fair held in Guangzhou from May 1 to 5, 2026.

The engagement provided Uganda with a strategic platform to promote its export potential, attract foreign investment, and deepen economic cooperation with China and other global markets.

The Ugandan delegation, led by Juju Nsababera, said the country is positioning itself as a competitive supplier of value-added, high-quality products to the international market.

Ugandan exhibitors showcase locally made products during the China Import and Export Fair in Guangzhou, where the country secured new trade and investment opportunities.

According to officials, Ugandan exhibitors drew notable interest in key export sectors including coffee, shea butter, and artisanal crafts, with several businesses reportedly securing direct sales agreements and export orders during the fair.

Government representatives said the outcomes reflect growing global demand for Ugandan products, particularly those with improved quality and value addition.

Beyond exports, Uganda also used the platform to promote itself as an emerging destination for tourism and foreign direct investment, engaging potential partners from Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Ugandan exhibitors attract strong global interest in coffee, shea butter, and crafts as government pushes for expanded market access and foreign investment.

Officials emphasised that participation in such global trade exhibitions is central to Uganda’s strategy to expand exports, strengthen value chains, and accelerate integration into global markets.

They reiterated government’s commitment to maintaining an open investment climate and fostering stronger international partnerships aimed at supporting economic growth and industrial development.

Uganda’s participation at the fair forms part of broader efforts to expand market access for local producers and position the country more competitively within global trade networks.
