The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has called on residents of Makindye Division to actively participate in the ongoing voter register verification exercise, describing it as a critical step in safeguarding the integrity of the forthcoming Local Council and Women Council elections.
During a community mobilisation tour that covered Lubowa Village in Kibuli Parish, Hospital Zone and Kitawuluzi Village in Nsambya Central, Namyalo met residents, local leaders and aspiring candidates to encourage greater participation in the electoral process.
She urged eligible voters to confirm their details on the register and turn up in large numbers on polling day, saying effective grassroots leadership begins with an informed and active electorate.
Namyalo also encouraged voters to support leaders who prioritise accountability, community development and improved service delivery, noting that strong local leadership plays an important role in implementing government programmes at the village level.
Residents used the engagement to raise concerns over delays in accessing funds under the Parish Development Model (PDM), with some saying they had completed the required registration process but were yet to receive financial support.
Responding to the concerns, Namyalo said she would engage the relevant authorities to establish the cause of the delays and ensure eligible beneficiaries receive the support intended to improve household incomes.
She further reaffirmed the ONC’s commitment to community empowerment, particularly for women and youth, saying sustained grassroots engagement remains central to expanding access to government programmes and promoting socio-economic transformation across communities.
