A new chapter in Uganda’s luxury tourism industry is about to unfold on the tranquil waters of Lake Victoria.
After years of planning and construction, the Ruparelia Group is entering the final phase of development of its highly anticipated Paradise Island Resort, a multi-billion-shilling hospitality project expected to redefine exclusive island tourism in Uganda.
Located on a private 19-acre island approximately 20 minutes by speedboat from Speke Resort Munyonyo, the luxury destination is scheduled to open its first phase in June, with developers now putting the finishing touches on several key attractions ahead of the launch.
Signature 500-Metre Beach Nears Completion

Among the resort’s most distinctive features is a 500-metre man-made beach, which is rapidly taking shape and is expected to become one of the property’s biggest attractions.
Project sources indicate that excavation works have already been completed, with the remaining phase focused on transporting and spreading sand along the shoreline to create an expansive waterfront leisure area.
Designed to offer guests a tropical island experience, the beach will provide a unique blend of relaxation, scenic lake views and recreational opportunities rarely found elsewhere in Uganda’s hospitality sector.
The development is expected to position Paradise Island Resort as one of the country’s most sought-after luxury destinations.
Luxury Living on Lake Victoria

Developed by Ugandan business magnate Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, the resort has been designed to cater to both domestic and international travelers seeking privacy, exclusivity and high-end accommodation.
The property features a range of carefully planned lodging options, including standard cottages, cliff-hanger cottages, deluxe two-bedroom cottages and executive villas.
Each unit has been strategically positioned to maximize panoramic views of Lake Victoria while offering guests a secluded and immersive island experience.
Industry observers have described the project as one of the most ambitious private tourism investments currently underway on the lake.
Final Preparations Underway

Construction activity has intensified in recent weeks as contractors work to meet the scheduled opening timeline.
Part of the final preparations has involved the deployment of a specially designed barge that will support island operations by transporting construction materials, equipment and operational supplies.
The vessel is expected to play a critical role in ensuring the smooth completion of remaining works while also supporting future resort logistics.
According to sources familiar with the project, the June launch will mark the beginning of phased operations, allowing visitors to access selected facilities while additional components of the development continue to be completed.
The Paradise Island Resort represents more than just another hospitality project.
For the Ruparelia Group, it is a strategic investment aimed at elevating Uganda’s position within the regional luxury tourism market and showcasing the untapped potential of Lake Victoria as a premium travel destination.
The project aligns with growing efforts to attract high-spending international travelers while also creating unique experiences for Uganda’s expanding domestic tourism market.
By combining luxury accommodation, waterfront leisure facilities and exclusive island experiences, the resort is expected to strengthen Uganda’s competitiveness within East Africa’s hospitality industry.
With major infrastructure now largely complete and finishing works progressing steadily, anticipation is building ahead of the resort’s official opening.
Once operational, Paradise Island Resort is expected to become one of Lake Victoria’s most prestigious hospitality destinations, adding a new dimension to Uganda’s tourism offering and further cementing the Ruparelia Group’s position as a leading investor in the country’s hospitality sector.
As June approaches, all eyes are on the private island where one of Uganda’s most ambitious luxury tourism projects is preparing to welcome its first guests.
