Kampala — The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, has intensified mobilisation efforts ahead of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony by leading a major cleaning and sanitation exercise at Kalerwe Market in Kampala.
The exercise attracted hundreds of vendors, youth and residents and was aimed at promoting hygiene, improving sanitation standards and creating a healthier working environment for traders operating in one of Kampala’s busiest markets.
Upon arrival, Hajjat Namyalo was welcomed by market leaders and vendors, many of whom praised her continued engagement with grassroots communities and ordinary Ugandans.
During interactions with traders, several vendors appealed to Namyalo to relay their concerns to President Museveni, particularly regarding limited access to business capital and financial empowerment opportunities.
The traders said although many of them are hardworking entrepreneurs, inadequate capital continues to limit the growth of their businesses and household incomes.
“We only need empowerment and support to expand our businesses. If we get financial assistance, we can transform our lives and take care of our families,” one of the vendors said during the engagement.
In response, Hajjat Namyalo assured the traders that government programmes aimed at wealth creation and economic empowerment remain a priority under President Museveni’s leadership.
She revealed that following the President’s swearing-in ceremony next week, more empowerment initiatives targeting youth, women and market vendors would be rolled out across the country.
“President Museveni has many programmes intended to uplift wananchi from poverty to wealth creation. The future is bright for Bazzukulu who are ready to work and embrace government programmes,” Namyalo told the gathering.
Her remarks were welcomed by traders, some of whom praised her hands-on leadership style and direct interaction with local communities.
“Hajjat Namyalo is different. She comes to the people, listens to us and understands our struggles. Many leaders remain in offices, but she reaches the common person,” a female vendor said.
For several hours, Namyalo moved through different sections of the market participating in the cleaning exercise, greeting vendors and encouraging residents to embrace cleanliness, unity and community responsibility.
She later called upon Bazzukulu in Kalerwe Market and surrounding areas to turn up in large numbers at Kololo Independence Grounds on Tuesday for President Museveni’s inauguration ceremony.
“We want all Bazzukulu to come together and celebrate this important national event with the President. Let us remain united and continue supporting programmes aimed at transforming Uganda,” she said.
The event ended amid excitement, with several traders pledging to attend the swearing-in ceremony and expressing optimism about the government’s promised empowerment initiatives.
