The Parish Development Model (PDM) continues to register measurable impacts on household incomes and enterprise development across Uganda, with beneficiaries increasingly transitioning into sustainable income-generating activities.
In Kaliro District, Ms. Kyoyagala Edisa, a resident of Kasokwe Trading Centre Village in Kasokwe Parish, is among the beneficiaries whose livelihood has been transformed through the programme.
Her progress was highlighted during a monitoring visit conducted by the ONC Kaliro District Coordinator, Mr. Wabwire Andrew, together with Kasokwe Parish Chief, Ms. Kaseha Eve, as part of ongoing efforts to assess the implementation and impact of government wealth creation initiatives.
Ms. Kyoyagala received UGX 1 million under the Parish Development Model in 2025, which she invested in poultry farming. She used UGX 500,000 to purchase chicks and allocated the remaining funds to feed and the construction of a temporary poultry shelter.
According to her, the enterprise has since grown into a steady source of income, supporting both egg and meat production. She earns approximately UGX 7,000 daily from egg sales within Kasokwe Trading Centre.
The proceeds from the poultry business have enabled her to improve household welfare and begin diversifying her investments. She has already acquired two goats, with plans to expand her livestock holdings further.
Ms. Kyoyagala credited the Parish Development Model for providing her with the startup capital needed to transform her business idea into a functioning enterprise, noting that access to funding has been key to her economic progress.
She encouraged other beneficiaries to exercise discipline and accountability in managing PDM funds, emphasizing that success depends on commitment and proper investment decisions.
“Transformation starts with personal determination. If I had not taken this seriously, I would not have been where I am today,” she said.
Kasokwe Parish Chief Ms. Kaseha Eve commended her for the effective use of government funds, while ONC Coordinator Mr. Wabwire Andrew described her as a model beneficiary whose success reflects the broader impact of PDM in promoting household income growth and community-based wealth creation in Kaliro District.
